Appointment Information

You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. Referrals for sessions can be made directly by the individual, a family member, by a health professional, or by services such as the Department of Community Services. The individual's consent will be needed to make a referral via a third party.

Our individual sessions run for approximately 50 minutes. Session frequencies vary depending on the needs of the client. Most sessions are weekly or fortnightly.

The number of sessions required depends on several factors, including the complexity, nature and duration of difficulties. Participation in session and response to treatment will also influence the number of sessions required. Typically people require between 5 and 15 sessions, but a simple issue may take only a couple of sessions and complex issues may require more.

Please note that a cancellation policy applies to all appointments. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will incur a cancellation fee. Medicare will not reimburse for missed appointments.

As we are a service which specialises in the assessment and treatment of children and young people it is a requirement that an adult accompanies any child under the age of 16 for all appointments. Further, it is our experience that treatment outcomes are optimal when parents are involved in treatment planning and process.
